Corn
Corn loves warmth and prefers to be sown indoors in March. You can choose between different types of corn, such as sweet corn, flour corn, and popcorn corn, but stick to one variety at a time in the same spot, otherwise they can cross-pollinate each other. When the corn is later planted outdoors, they are planted in groups so they can cross-pollinate each other. Also read Corn - how to grow your own
Potatoes
If you want an early potato harvest in the summer, March is an excellent month to start. You can grow potatoes in several ways, such as planting seed potatoes in pots or laying them on top of a layer of soil in a larger container. The advantage of the latter method is that you have room for more potatoes, but the disadvantage is that the roots can tangle together before you have a chance to plant the potato plants outside. Regardless of the method you choose, potato plants need light and cooler temperatures – if it gets too dark, the plants may become long and weak as they use all their energy to reach for the light.
