Rova, Enon kanta

An old Finnish cultivated plant. Usually cultivated after slash-and-burn. The root is flat-round and purple in color, with a light underside. Some roots take on a different color. Juicy threadless flesh. Don't let the turnip get too big, 6-8 cm is fine. Good both raw and cooked, in a gratin, casserole, baked in the oven or mashed.
