Can be sown directly in April in southern parts of the country. Set onions are used in the rest of the country. Enjoy first the tender leaves, then the whole mild onion, and in the fall as a tasty vegetable that can be used in many dishes. Plenty of water and fertilizer produces a large, mild-tasting crop that can be eaten directly. When the leaves fold, let them dry and then harvest and store the onion in a dry place. Thrives in mold-rich and fertilized soil.
