Chrysanthemum, or simply "mums" as it is commonly called, is a lovely summer flower with beautiful colors and volume. It has enormous amounts of flowers and buds and grows in a ball shape. Ball chrys come in a variety of colors, both double and single in form.

    The ballflowers are very popular and brighten up any staircase, terrace, or balcony when the summer is coming to an end and the garden's other flowers have bloomed. Ballflowers can bloom all the way into November, depending on the temperature.
  • Care of Chrysanthemums

    Placement and light requirements
    Chrysanthemums prefers semi-shade, cooler placement helps the flowers last longer, but it does not want to be too dark or shady, light is important for the flowers to bloom properly.

    Planting
    Plant it in larger pots to facilitate care. Use Plantagen's Premium soil.

    Watering
    Water once or twice a week to keep the soil lightly moist. If it is too dry, the buds may fall off and it may have difficulty blooming properly.

    Nutrition
    Nutrients are usually not necessary as the plant is often discarded after flowering.

    Pruning
    Remove wilted flowers as they appear. This stimulates the growth of new flowers.

    Overwintering
    Chrysanthemums can tolerate some frost, but it may be difficult to overwinter. Place the plant in a bright location at 10-15 degrees. Do not water or fertilize. Repot in the spring and trim back.
