Fruit trees have had their place in our gardens for a long time, and now they are also appearing on balconies and outdoor spaces.

Fruit trees not only provide delicious fruit in the summer and autumn, they are also beautiful in early summer and a favorite place for bumblebees and bees. There are many wonderful varieties to choose from. For example, family trees, that is, one tree with several different types of the same fruit, such as apples or pears. Choose a sunny location

Fruit trees need to be sunny and warm so that the fruit can become sweet and ripen quickly. Peaches and apricots are best placed against a calm and warm south-facing wall to develop best.

How to plant fruit trees

1. Use organic planting soil when planting and mix well with the existing soil.,

2. Water generously both in the planting hole and on the rootball before planting.

3. Plant the tree so that the grafting site (the "lump" on the trunk) is above ground.

4. Fill in with soil, and water well.

5. Place one or more stakes around the tree and tie securely with bands so the tree has good support in the first few years and can establish itself.

6. Most fruit trees require a planting distance of about three meters.

Great advice for fruit trees

Water

Give plenty of water in the beginning. Use mulch around the tree to prevent evaporation and weeds. Provide extra water during dry periods, especially in the first few years.

Nutrients,

Young apple trees do not need as much nutrients. Improve the soil with manure in the spring and supplement with organic garden fertilizer in the spring and summer.

Remove weeds

Be careful to remove grass and weeds in a diameter around the trunk so that they do not steal nutrients from the tree.

Pollination of fruit trees

In order to have a lot of nice fruit, fruit trees must be pollinated by a different variety. If you live in a residential area, this is rarely a problem, but if you live more remotely, it may be wise to plant different varieties that pollinate each other in the garden.
